I have just discovered your blog "Except the Kyles..." and am enjoying it immensely.

I have taken the liberty of letting the foresheet fly from your picture of the Columba - see the result below. (Also in black and white and lightened up a bit at the bottom of this page.

I should also like permission to use the image in a web-document (blog or website - not sure) I am writing for my grandchildren who are just beginning to discover the Western Isles.

I will close this page down when I hear that you have seen it - and possibly downloaded the image.

Your photo reminds me of another  shot of an old MacBrayne's steamer - see below. I wish there were more pictures of these vessels taken from that viewpoint. Most are from above or alongside. I think the view from sea level gives the ships a certain presence.
